The open model caught the frontier.

Z.ai's GLM-5.2 is a 753-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts model — 40B active per token, a one-million-token context window, shipped under an MIT license on June 16. On Artificial Analysis' new AA-Briefcase test of long-horizon knowledge work it leads every open-weight model, behind only Anthropic's Fable 5 and Opus 4.8, at roughly a sixth of the cost per token.

Teach the agent to keep asking why.

Why-Tree is an open Claude skill that turns a fuzzy complaint into a structured root-cause map — applying systems thinking and the five-whys across several branches until it lands on the cause, not the symptom. Drop it in your skills folder and point it at a bug, a churn spike, or a project that keeps slipping.

PROBLEM Signups convert, then vanish in week one ├─ why? onboarding never reaches the first win │ ├─ why? the setup step needs data they lack │ └─ why? the empty state explains nothing ├─ why? the activation email lands in spam └─ root ▸ no moment of value before the work starts

Point an agent at your own bugs.

Cloudflare wrote up the vulnerability-discovery harness it runs in-house: one agent proposes candidate flaws, then a separate adversarial loop tries to disprove each one before any human sees it. The detail that matters is the triage — killing false positives is the difference between a scanner you read and a scanner you mute.

Drop a growth team into your skills folder.

A curated open repo of Claude skills for go-to-market work — each one a structured playbook an agent can run end to end. For a founder without a marketing hire, it's a starting bench you can edit to fit.

Sandbox the agent, not your laptop.

Fly.io's field guide to running coding agents safely: hand each one a disposable, sandboxed machine so a bad command burns down a throwaway environment instead of your host. It walks through isolating risky operations, scoping what the agent can reach, and recovering when it does something it shouldn't.

# spin up an isolated box for the agent $ fly sprite create --ephemeral → sandbox booted · host filesystem unmounted agent@sandbox:~$ rm -rf / # contained — host untouched $ fly sprite destroy # the blast radius ends here

Give your agent a throwaway account.

Cloudflare now lets an AI agent create a Temporary Account on Workers and deploy a live instance on the spot.

The signup flow is built for a human: pick a plan, confirm an email, click through a dashboard. An agent that just wants to ship a preview stalls at the first form.

Temporary Accounts skip that. The agent requests one, gets a scoped place to deploy, and pushes a running instance in seconds — handy for one-off previews, demos, and agent-generated apps that never needed a permanent home.

The account is disposable by design, so nothing long-lived is left sitting around once the work is done.

A video editor that talks to models.

Palmier is an open-source macOS editor built around AI: generate, edit, and export clips on a single timeline, with Model Context Protocol support so an agent can drive the cut. It's an early answer to what a native editing tool looks like when the generators live inside the app instead of a browser tab.

That's today.

Issue 062 · Sunday 21 June 2026. Today's seven picks came from Cloudflare, Fly.io, Z.ai, and the Telegram channels @seeallochnaya, @TochkiNadAI, and @ProductsAndStartups. The bar: tools and write-ups a senior engineer or founder could put to work this week, each published within the last 30 days.
