Sol arrives in three tiers.

OpenAI previewed GPT-5.6 Sol as a tiered family: you pick the model by how hard the job is. New reasoning modes, a 1.5M-token context window, and inference clocked at 750 tokens/sec on Cerebras silicon. Rollout is phased — enterprise first, the rest in July.

Sol
Top tier · ultra reasoning + subagents for the hardest work
Terra
Balanced · the everyday agent and coding workhorse
Luna
Instant · low-latency replies, cheapest to run

Engineer the loop, not the prompt.

Andrew Ng names the skill that Boris Cherny (Claude Code) and Peter Steinberger (OpenClaw) have been circling: loop engineering. Stop hand-feeding prompts and instead close three feedback loops at different speeds, so the agent writes, tests, and re-tests until the spec is met — while you hold the direction.

L1Agent loop — write, run, fix, repeat~ minutes
L2Developer loop — review, steer, re-spec~ hours
L3User loop — ship, watch, learn~ days

AI Tools · Voice + Privacy

It listens while it talks.

OpenAI's Bidi 1 voice mode drops the turn-taking entirely: the model hears you while it speaks, so you can cut in mid-sentence and it switches tasks without missing a beat. Three intelligence tiers — High, Medium, Instant — and a privacy split worth noting: audio stays on-device until something is judged an interruption, only then is encrypted audio sent to the cloud.

You — speaking
Model — answering

Mic stays local until you interrupt — then encrypted audio goes up. A split built to keep an always-open microphone honest.

One click, new layouts.

Google AI Studio's Build mode added Design Variations: instead of writing a paragraph about spacing, type, and colour, you press a button and get several full layout alternatives of the same app to compare and apply. It runs on Gemini 3.5 Flash, picked for the low latency that makes a one-click reshuffle feel instant.

Creative · Build It Yourself

A live collage of your window's birds.

AvianVisitors turns a Raspberry Pi and a clip-on mic into a window onto the birds outside — BirdNET listens and identifies each species, and an optional Gemini pass paints a custom illustration of every visitor into a dynamic collage. A fork of BirdNET-Pi, around a hundred dollars all in, with an e-ink frame option for offline viewing.

Brain
BirdNET-Pi species ID from sound
Art
Gemini-generated bird illustrations
Rig
Raspberry Pi 4B / 5 / Zero 2W + USB mic
Cost
≈ $70–105, e-ink frame optional

Frontier · Access + Policy

The frontier model gets cleared.

Two weeks after Washington ordered Anthropic to suspend Mythos 5 and Fable 5 over security concerns, the government has released Mythos 5 to a first batch of more than 100 American institutions and companies. Fable 5 is still under negotiation. The signal for builders: frontier access is now something governments hand out by name.

That's today.

Six picks for Sunday, 28 June 2026 — the morning the frontier learned to ship in tiers and the loop learned to run itself.
