Research · Labor Benchmark

Machines now finish one job in six.

The Remote Labor Index scores how often an agent completes real freelance work — design, CAD, video — judged against a professional's output. Fable 5 clears 16.1%, up from 2.5% eight months ago. The number is small; the slope is not.

16.1%Fable 5
8.3%Opus 4.8
6.3%GPT-5.5

2.5% → 16.1% in under eight months. Caveat: automated graders overstate the win — only human review holds the line.

Dev Tools · Deploy

Frontend and backend, one deployment.

Vercel Services puts a Next.js app and a FastAPI backend in a single project. They deploy and roll back atomically, and talk to each other over internal bindings instead of hopping the public internet — one repo, one release, one graph.

Web · Payments

The web grows a cash register.

Cloudflare's Monetization Gateway lets you charge for pages, APIs, datasets and MCP tools using the x402 protocol and stablecoins. Payment is verified at the edge, so micropayments down to fractions of a cent settle in under a second — priced for a reader that is now a bot.

Read the trace your eval can't.

Sergiy Dybskiy argues evals catch known failures but miss the call that matters: is a cheap model good enough for free users? Reading individual traces exposes fabrications that sail past tool-call validation — a made-up speaker name that looks grounded. Log with stable IDs; inspect tool output, not just the call.

Research · Genomics

A biology exam top models fail.

GeneBench-Pro hands a model a dataset, an experimental context and a research question, then asks it to pick a method and reach a defensible conclusion — 129 synthetic problems with verifiable ground truth. The best system clears barely a third; most real biology still goes unanswered.

Top non-GPT model trails by 12 points — and everyone misses roughly seven problems in ten.

Security · Frameworks

One scale for how bad a jailbreak is.

Anthropic, Amazon, Microsoft and Google agreed a consensus way to score a jailbreak instead of arguing about it. Four axes feed a severity tier — from a break inside safety margins to a universal one that unlocks whole classes of harm — so labs and regulators can react to the same number.
